All classrooms at Urban Pathways K-5 College Charter School (UPK5CCS) cultivate Pathways to College for each student through our Historically Black Colleges & Universities (HBCU’s) classroom community program. Each classroom has “adopted” a HBCU. Through this program, students learn about their HBCU’s history; programs of study and careers associated with them; and school culture with mascots, cheers, school colors, & school spirit. Through learning and demonstrating Covey’s 7 Habits, our students’ character is being built with essential skills to be a productive lifelong learner.
These habits will help the students succeed in the 21st Century through their journey to post-secondary education at the college level. Students are recognized monthly during our First Friday Celebrations for demonstrating these habits in their daily lives at UPK5CCS.
As students engage in our First Friday Celebrations, classes show their school spirit for their HBCU’s by performing cheers and chants. Urban Pathways K-5 College Charter School aspires to instill a love for learning in each student as they take steps to becoming tomorrow’s leaders in their Pathway to College.
