School-wide Positive Behavior Support refers to a process for an entire school to teach behavioral expectations in the same manner as any core curriculum subject. Urban Pathways focuses on the “Leader in Me” series by Stephen Covey to teach the 7 core habits of being successful students and leaders in the community. Covey’s language is incorporated school wide and students are consistently challenged to use their knowledge of leadership qualities to meet academic and behavioral expectations.
The students at Urban Pathways are taught lessons in character education to ensure that they are not only progressing academically, but also socially. These lessons focus on building positive qualities and characteristics and include topics such as: compassion, forgiveness, honestly, friendliness, cooperation and relationship building. Urban Pathways educates its students on bullying awareness, the effects that bullying can have, and standing up for themselves and others. Urban Pathways is committed to creating and maintaining a safe, bully free environment for our students and staff.
