Position Profile

Urban Pathways K-5 College Charter School in located in Downtown Pittsburgh, PA seeks a dynamic educational leader (CEO) to achieve the vision for student performance by successfully engaging faculty, students and parents.  Key to this is building a culture of motivation along with trust, transparency, and fairness.  The successful candidate must be able to lead a multi-faceted organization and collaborate well with diverse constituencies and advocate strongly for charter school children.

The CEO will have primary responsibility for Strategic Planning, Student Recruitment, Academic Performance, School Operations, Finance, Culture, and Board Relationships.  Assures that Urban Pathways strategic plan is translated into an annual operating plan with goals and objectives for all levels of staff.  Engages educational leaders in ongoing initiatives to strengthen and improve student performance as demonstrated by regular evaluation and measurement and compliance with applicable accreditation and regulatory standards.  Develops and maintains relationships with the Pittsburgh Public School Superintendent and Pennsylvania Department of Education, promotes Urban Pathways to community, government, foundation and educational leaders and seeks opportunities to enhance resources/funding.

Qualifications

Candidate must have a passion for the school’s mission and a successful performance track record with students, families and staff. A successful candidate must be a strong leader and motivator.  Extensive leadership experience including organizational planning, staff development, board relations, operations and financial management, preferably in an urban educational environment.  Results-driven with belief in standards-based curriculum and use of data to drive instruction.  Outstanding analytical, problem-solving, strategic thinking, and planning skills.  High energy and drive for continuous improvement in the pursuit of excellence is vital to success.  A successful candidate will be able to build and maintain strong relationships with parents.

Candidate will be expected to have or quickly acquire knowledge of PA State Education Law, instructional standards and public charter school finance. The CEO also serves as the liaison for the Pennsylvania Department of Education. The CEO will lead the organization in achieving the renewal of the charter in 2021.

A minimum of 10 years of experience in education with at least 5 years of experience in a senior role such as Principal or Superintendent.  Certification as a Principal in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania or ability to be provisionally certified. Master’s in Education from an accredited institution of higher learning; Doctoral degree preferred.
